THE VERY BEST OF
ELASTIC NO-NO BAND SO FAR (2006) - CD

"Justin Remer doesn’t just write songs about some of the most unexpected subjects. He writes darn good ones, too." -- Dan MacIntosh, Indie-Music.com
"Elastic No-No Band's Justin Remer has chosen the best [of the group's] low-key joke-folk. 'Let's Fuck' is even better than the title suggests. 'You Think It's Wrong' is the right direction in all ways." -- Jonathan Berger, Urban Folk

SONGS FROM A POORLY SOUNDPROOFED ROOM (2004) - CD-R
THE STORY: These 4 CD-R's were all made using voiceover-recording equipment at New York University (NYU). This was the beginning of ENB, when it was just a performing name for Justin Remer (your humble narrator).
NYU didn't have Pro Tools in their voiceover rooms for this first one, so it was just a mic, a mixer, and a CD burner. A few of the songs end with a THUNKy guitar chord, after they seem to be already over. I would have to do this to get the CD burner to switch to the next track -- be very quiet, then make a loud noise. Obviously, it didn't always work. The recordings were all done in single takes without overdubs, lending them a sort of Daniel Johnston-y home-recording feel. There's some good, some bad, and a lot of stuff in questionable taste, but it wouldn't work any other way.
Includes "Turn Out Right," which appears on the VERY BEST OF ... SO FAR disc. Links below to mp3's.
1. I'm Yr Dog
2. Eatin' My Heart Out
3. Rule of 3s (Solemnity Child)
4. Medley no. 2
5. I Saw the Light (H. Williams)
6. Lovesick Blues (I. Mills-C. Friend)
7. I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down (H.Banks-A. Jones)
8. Wintry (Gettin' Cold)
9. Chontsha, Bontsha, Schmontsha
10. Becky, I'm Nuts
11. Baby, Dance With Me
12. It's So Easy (B. Holly-N. Petty)
13. Skinny Legs (L.Lovett)
14. Praha Ha Ha
15. Turn Out Right
16. I Get Lonesome (B. Hansen)
17. Breath
18. "Sexy" Chicken Song

MORE SONGS ABOUT COWBOYS AND MOISTURE (2004) - CD-R
THE STORY: So this second one was still Justin alone, but now there was Pro Tools. Still not really many overdubs, apart from the over-the-top backup singing on "Tough Guy." There are some "invisible" audio edits, which helped lead to a bit less stress and more confidence with the recording.
This one features a larger originals-to-covers ratio than the first, and the songwriting and singing started to get better too! Links below to mp3s.
1. Waiting For a Ho
2. Click click Click click
3. Hot As I Are
4. Bony Moronie (L. Williams)
5. Raining Raining (N. Lowe)
6. Ballad of the Lonesome Stranger, part 1

11. Oh Mama... I'm Alone
12. You Don't Miss Your Water (W. Bell)

EVERY ELVIS HAS HIS ARMY: ENB DOES EC (2005) - CD-R
THE STORY: A collection of Elvis Costello covers. Most of them were recorded at the same time as the stuff from MORE SONGS ABOUT COWBOYS AND MOISTURE, since this was going to be a "stopgap EP" until MORE SONGS was done, but then it kept growing. A lot of fun experimentation, and a questionable
a cappella performance of "You'll Never Be a Man."
On the bright side, there's a very popular version of "Pump It Up." Links below to mp3s.
1. You'll Never Be a Man
2. Love For Tender
3. Party Party/It's Time
4. Uncomplicated
5. Radio Sweetheart
6. Big Tears
7. Everyday I Write the Book
8. Mystery Dance
9. Deep Dark Truthful Mirror
10. I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down (Sam and Dave version)
11. Pump It Up
All songs written by Elvis Costello (aka D.P.A. MacManus); except track 10, written by Homer Banks and Alan Jones.

(PREVIOUSLY OTHERWISE) UNCOLLECTED SONGS (2005) - CD-R
THE STORY: My time at NYU was coming to a close, and my ability to use their facilities was ending. This was a hurriedly recorded batch just to get my tuition's worth. A lot of covers, but probably some of the most interesting recordings in the CD-R bunch. Links below to mp3s.
